With Black Christmas, an absolute horror classic celebrates its 4K/UHD release on Blu-ray in May, including as a limited media book with no less than 3 discs.

Black Christmas was originally released in this country as Jessy – Die Treppe in den Tod and already received two remakes in 2006 and 2019 due to its cult status among horror fans. On May 19, the classic from 1974, which is considered one of the pioneers of the slasher genre, will now also be released in 4K/UHD resolution on Blu-ray for the first time and can be pre-ordered now.

The limited Mediabook appears with three different cover designs and can be ordered from Amazon for 34.99 euros *, whereby the preferred design can be selected in the store. Included here are the 4K/UHD Blu-ray, a normal Blu-ray and, on top of that, a DVD with the film as well as bonus material. Optionally, there is also a normal standard edition for 22.99 euros *, which contains only the 4K/UHD Blu-ray with bonus material.

This is what Black Christmas is all about

In Bob Clark’s classic starring Olivia Hussey and Keir Dullea, a psychopathic killer keeps a sorority and the police on their toes at Christmas. Instead of reflective festivity, the phone rings incessantly and quickly the obscene calls turn to threats and bloody violence.

While the killer is close by and murdering incessantly, the police are on the wrong track. In the process, the connections surrounding Jessy are gradually revealed and the ending also holds a surprise. On Moviepilot, the early slasher flick, which is currently not available to stream anywhere, has a solid community rating of 6.6.

Current Horror Alternatives

Another horror classic, but as a remake, is currently available in the form of Hellraiser: The Castle to Hell new in the program at the streaming service Paramount+. On Amazon Prime, meanwhile, you can watch one of the best horror comedies of recent years with body swapping in the flat rate, while on Netflix a far too unknown sci-fi horror kills at 2-minute intervals. Also coming to Germany in May is some really good horror action from a Game of Thrones maker with disgusting mutants.
