James Gunn wants to make sure you see the best possible version of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theaters on the big screen. And that’s why he’s created 600 different ones.
Tomorrow Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens in German cinemas. The sequel marks the conclusion of the Marvel trilogy that director James Gunn kicked off nine years ago with Guardians of the Galaxy. Before he says goodbye to the DC universe, he unleashes one last MCU adventure in theaters.
As the Hollywood Reporter has found out, it is a very special release. That’s because Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in 600 (!) different versions in theaters. But do not worry, these are not differences in content, but mainly technical details.

One big issue with releasing a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is about the aspect ratio, which can differ from screen to screen. If you’re watching the movie in IMAX, the image is significantly larger at many moments because there are no black bars at the top and bottom of the image.
I think of it more as maybe 10 versions but it still seemed like a lot to oversee. gotgvol3 https://t.co/JIp19HGEyW

On Twitter, Gunn says it’s more like he worked on ten versions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Jacobs’ number isn’t wrong with that. Rather, the issue here is how much detail is put into each version and its tweaks.
