With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn ends his trilogy about the galactic adventures of the hero team around Star-Lord, Rocket Racoon and Co. Without major MCU connections, the film is completely dedicated to the farewell of the characters and the end of their journey together. But the tearful farewell is also followed by a new beginning.

The first credits scene introduces the new Guardians of the Galaxy
After defeating the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), the Guardians of the Galaxy disband at the end of the film and the members go their separate ways. Rocket Racoon, however, is given the task of carrying on the team’s legacy. He creates a new version of the Guardians, which we are introduced to in the first credits scene.
In the end credits scene, the new Guardians are on an alien planet. Here they discuss their respective favorite music artist:s while waiting for their mission. Their mission: to protect a village on the planet from an onrushing horde of alien creatures.
The story of the first Guardians of the Galaxy has officially been told. The team of galactic protectors, however, remains.
