A sequel is planned for the sci-fi epic Alita: Battle Angel. Alita 2 will benefit from James Cameron’s technical experience with Avatar 2, as now revealed by a producer.
Sci-fi fans can rejoice. The popular manga adaptation Alita: Battle Angel is to get a sequel. And apparently with a revamped look. Producer James Cameron is said to be contributing technology for the sequel, Avatar 2: The Way of Water.
Avatar 2 to make sci-fi characters more human in Alita 2
As Cameron’s production colleague Jon Landau revealed to Screenrant the characters in particular are expected to benefit from the new technology. He said that during the Avatar 2 shoot, it was realized how much more mimic nuance and subtlety could now be given to humanoid characters. Avatar 2 benefited from the first Alita film, Landau said. Now, he said, it’s time for something in return.
Right now, talks are underway about the sci-fi sequel to Alita. That fact alone will have surprised some fans. While Alita: Battle Angel appealed to many viewers, the film was not a box office success.
When will Alita: Battle Angel 2 be released?
When exactly a sequel to the sci-fi smash hit will come, however, has not been determined at the moment. Judging by the very early stage of development, we do not expect the film before mid-2025.
