After the hype around Netflix hit Bird Box with Sandra Bullock, many wanted a sequel. Now the first trailer is suddenly here, revealing that you won’t have to wait much longer for Bird Box Barcelona.
The post-apocalyptic horror thriller Bird Box turned out to be a big hit for Netflix in 2018 and even kicked off a series of dangerous challenges in the wake of its release. Now the streaming service is introducing the sequel Bird Box Barcelona in a trailer.
Horror thriller Bird Box 2 is expected to repeat Netflix success
In the first Bird Box movie, a mysterious suicide mania took hold. Only those who renounced their own eyesight, for example with a blindfold, could survive during this terrible pandemic. Malorie (Sandra Bullock) then set out with her children in search of a refuge in nature. The sequel or spin-off Bird Box Barcelona now jumps across the Atlantic to explore how Europeans in Spain deal with such a pandemic:
At the center of David Pastor’s Netflix sequel Bird Box 2 is a father, Sebastian (Mario Casas), who tries to make ends meet with his young daughter, Anna, in the streets of Barcelona during the outbreak of the epidemic. They form an alliance with other survivors, but as they search for a safe place, they must realize that the unseen creatures causing the suicide wave are not the only threat.
Susanne Bier’s Bird Box was based on the novel of the same name * by Josh Malerman. In fact, a year after its Netflix success, this one still drew a book sequel called Malorie. The new trailer doesn’t give much away, aside from panic in the beautiful setting of Barcelona: however, it looks like the new Netflix film won’t be based on the second novel *, but will work independently.
