It looks like we’ll have to be prepared for a longer wait until the 4th season of The Mandalorian starts on Disney+. However, there is an understandable reason for the delay.
After the end of the 3rd season of The Mandalorian, many fans are eager to see how the Star Wars series will continue. Although Season 4 has not yet been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm and Disney, showrunner Jon Favreau let it slip some time ago that he has started working on the new episodes.
As Deadline reports, we will probably still have to prepare for a longer wait. Despite the diligent preliminary work of Favreau’s team, the start of production of the 4th season is apparently delayed. The reason for this is the strike of screenwriters in Hollywood, which has been making headlines since the beginning of May.

As Deadline has learned from its sources, filming for Season 4 of The Mandalorian was originally scheduled to begin in September 2023. However, due to the strike, it now looks like the start of filming will be postponed. Whether we are talking about weeks or months is unclear though.

More than Star Wars: Here’s what’s behind the strike
Screenwriters:represented by the WGA (Writers Guild of America) are currently taking to the streets to fight for fair compensation commensurate with the changing film and series landscape in the streaming age. The WGA strike is an important cause and is impacting many productions.
The Mandalorian is not the first Star Wars series to be affected by the strike. Just last week, Andor creator Tony Gilroy announced that he was stepping down from all creative duties on Season 2 pending an agreement between the WGA and the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers).
