Iron Man and other Marvel heroes died pointlessly – because the MCU.

Iron Man 3 introduced technology into the MCU that could have prevented the deaths of many Marvel heroes. But the invention has been hushed up for years.

Robert Downey Jrs. Iron Man has died the most emotional MCU death. And unnecessarily so. Namely, as a look at the annals of the Marvel canvas universe shows, a crucial invention could have saved him without much effort. We’re talking about the Extremis technology from Iron Man 3.

Saving Iron Man: The MCU doesn’t want to know about Marvel technology

In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark’s antagonist Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) uses a sophisticated viral technology called Extremis that can easily heal wounds and regrow limbs. Even Stark’s girlfriend Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) is saved from death by it. However, after the release of the film in 2013, the invention was never an issue again.

Iron Man’s sacrificial death in Avengers 4: Endgame could have easily been prevented with this, as Screenran t also notes. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) would not have had to die. Vision (Paul Bettany) would still be alive. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) could still be with Quill (Chris Pratt).

Of course, the silencing of technology has a very simple purpose. If such technology exists, where is the danger anyway? Where is the adventure if everyone can be cured instantly thanks to Extremis? It’s like the invisible car in James Bond 007 – Die Another Day: the invention is so overpowering that it threatens the entire dramaturgical concept of the series.

So Marvel fans will still have to shed tears over fallen hero:ins. But that’s far better than seeing the great MCU darlings live on without end or suspense until they wear out even their greatest champions.
