According to Deadline Fox was guest starring alongside Whoopi Goldberg on ABC’s The View. Here he told the actress directly that it haunts him to this day to have turned down the lead role in Ghost – Message from Sam:
“There was an opportunity to work with you that I missed. You talked to me early on about Ghost. I said, ‘This is never going to work.’ I said, ‘Whoopi’s great, but it’s never going to work.’ And then it was great and huge and I’m a fucking idiot. “
