As an actress, Scarlett Johansson has finally finished with the MCU. But as a producer she is still involved in a new Marvel project. But there is a problem.
After her Black Widow solo film, Scarlett Johansson never wants to return to the MCU. However, that only applies to her acting career. In 2021, Marvel boss Kevin Feige announced that he would be working with the star as a producer on a secret project.
Even though we haven’t heard anything about it for a very long time, the mysterious Marvel project isn’t dead yet. Johansson has now spoken about it again, but the current Hollywood situation is getting in the way of development.
Secret Marvel project from Scarlett Johansson must wait
According to Comic Book the actress spoke at a press briefing for the new Wes Anderson film Asteroid City about still being involved in the Marvel project with Feige. She remained mum about the content.
Johansson could only say that the project is unable to move forward due to the current Hollywood script strike. She said that before the strike began, she and Feige were in the middle of developments.
So far it is still not clear whether the secret Marvel project with Scarlett Johansson as producer is a film or a series. But it is unlikely to have anything to do with Black Widow.
What’s next for the MCU in 2023?
On 21 June 2023, the new MCU series Secret Invasion with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury will start on Disney+. In the cinema, the Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels continues on 8 November 2023?
