Touching closing performance: if you love Harrison Ford, you’ll love Indiana Jones 5
Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny comes with a clear promise. Even if the franchise continues in the future: this is Harrison Ford’s last appearance as Indiana Jones. He has embodied the legendary cinema hero since 1981. Finally, we get to see both the young and the old version of the character – once digitally rejuvenated and once corresponding to the current Harrison Ford.

The story begins in 1944 during World War II. Indy is on a secret mission in the French Alps to recover a powerful object from the Nazis: scientist Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen) is after the Wheel of Destiny, which is a fictionalised version of the mechanism of Antikythera, dating back to the mathematician Archimedes.
This is followed by a time jump to 1969. The USA has won the space race. No one is interested in the old-fashioned Dr. Henry Jones Jr. any more. Where once students couldn’t take their eyes off him, now nothing more than a tired yawn awaits him in the auditorium. But then his goddaughter Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) bursts into the picture and involves Indy in another adventure.
