Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock in the Marvel sequel Venom 3. Resourceful fans have spotted an exciting connection to Spider-Man: No Way Home in the first set images.
While Sony is currently enjoying great success with the animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the studio is expanding its live-action sector in the Marvel universe. A few days ago, the first trailer for Kraven the Hunter was released. In addition, filming has begun on Venom 3 with Tom Hardy.
Away from Spider-Man, Venom is by far the biggest name in Sony’s Marvel repertoire. Since 2018, Eddie Brock, portrayed by Hardy, has been present in the cinema. Now he gets his third solo adventure. On 26 June 2023, the first clapperboard fell in Cartagena, Spain. Shortly afterwards, the first pictures and videos landed on the net.
Venom 3: Is the big duel between Tom Hardy and Tom Holland finally coming?
As unspectacular as the set shots seem at first glance, one detail gives many Marvel fans no peace: Hardy’s clothes. By all appearances, he is wearing the same shirt he wore in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home. This could suggest that Venom 3 is set immediately before or after the events of the multiverse film that brought three generations of Spidey together.

We’ve already seen the big Spider-Man reunion. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man hasn’t tangled with Venom yet, though, even though the crossover has been teased for years. Could Venom 3 be the film that finally brings the two characters together in one picture? Or will we continue to be fobbed off with little tidbits?
So far, no concrete info on the plot of Venom 3 has been revealed. Besides Hardy’s return, only two castings are confirmed: Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) are joining the Marvel sequel. Which roles they play, however, is one of the many mysteries of the multiverse.
