The Boys fans are eagerly awaiting the start of season 4 on Amazon Prime. Now the showrunner speaks out and provides an update on the release of the new episodes.
A year ago, season 3 of The Boys launched on Amazon Prime. Since then, fans of the cheeky superhero series have been wondering when and how the story will continue. The good news is: filming for the new episodes has long since been completed. The Boys season 4 is in the can, but not yet ready for release.
Since The Boys is a very elaborate series, it was foreseeable that we would have to be prepared for a longer wait. As it now turns out, there is an additional obstacle: the screenwriters’ strike in Hollywood. The Boys is also affected by this and will therefore return later on Amazon.
The Boys season 4 is starting later on Amazon Prime and the reason is the big strike in Hollywood
On Twitter, showrunner Eric Kripke gives an update on The Boys situation. When season 4 will start on Amazon Prime depends on how long the strike lasts. Currently, no agreement has been reached between the creatives and the studios.
TheBoys update! 1) When Season4 drops depends on how long the WGA Strike goes. No answer yet. Tell the studios to make a fair deal!
2) To take that sting off, here’s fun art from S4. We spend hours making ourselves laugh with this stuff & its never even on screen. TheBoysTV pic.twitter.com/t9nSGmou8Z

Although The Boys is already shot, much of the dialogue is written in post-production and subsequently voiced by the actors, as Kripke explains. However, the activity of writing must not be carried out by WGA members during the strike, otherwise it is strikebreaking.
Exactly. There’s a good amount of dialogue we write in post that the actors come back to record (called ADR), to help bridge story gaps or clarify a plot point. We’ll also edit dialogue together in different ways to ‘rewrite’ it. Writing at every stage of the process. WGAStrong https://t.co/K3MbGqAajy

These subsequent dialogues are necessary, among other things, to close certain gaps in the plot or to better explain other details in the story. Even if we now have to wait longer for the fourth season of The Boys, in the end we benefit from a better told series.
