HBO’s adaptation of PlayStation hit The Last of Us caused quite a stir earlier this year, and now the first season of the zombie drama is available for home viewing without streaming, on Blu-ray and DVD, and in 4K.

While the second season of the acclaimed end-times series The Last of Us is expected to be some time coming, the disc release of the first season for home cinema is due on 20 July, after the series had previously only been available on streaming.

At Amazon you can now get the zombie drama on normal Blu-ray *, in 4K/UHD * or also on DVD *. Alternatively, the first season of The Last of Us can also be purchased in individual episodes or in its entirety as a streaming purchase on Amazon Prime Video *.

In nine episodes of the first season of The Last of Us, the HBO adaptation of the popular PlayStation hit follows the fate of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Elli (Bella Ramsey) after a parasitic pandemic, just like in the original. The adult survivalist protects what appears to be the only immune 14-year-old from fungal zombies and marauders as they travel across North America.

The first season of The Last of Us was received extremely positively by both viewers:inside and critics and is also up there with the best series of 2023. The Moviepilot community has also given it a very solid rating with an average of 8.2 out of a possible 10 points.

Those who can’t wait until the release of season 2, which will probably not be released until mid-2024 at the earliest or 2025 at the earliest, will already find out what happens next with Joel and Elli thanks to the second part of the video game template.

The Last of Us Part II, which was released for PlayStation 4 and 5, not only shows where the journey is heading, but has even surpassed the first part in the ratings in many places. Accordingly, fans of the series can hope that the HBO adaptation in season 2 will also make a strong showing.
