According to media reports, Avatar director James Cameron is said to be planning a film about the Titan crew’s submarine disaster. He has now made a clear statement on this.
As it stands, James Cameron could be making Avatar sequels for the rest of his life. In any case, parts 3 to 5 are a done deal and will be with us in the cinema for almost 10 more years.
Recently, however, rumours surfaced that Cameron is also planning a film about the recent Titan disaster. The director has now responded personally and taken a clear stance.
James Cameron shatters rumour of film about real-life submarine tragedy
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter magazines such as tabloid The Sun carried info from anonymous sources that the Avatar maker is said to be planning a film about the Titan disaster with a streaming service.
The incident involved the implosion of a submarine in the sea that was supposed to take the crew to the remains of the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean. All five people on board died.
On Twitter, James Cameron himself has now commented on the rumours surrounding a supposedly planned Titan movie. The tragedy is also known as OceanGate:
“I don’t respond to offensive rumours in the media usually, but I need to now. I’m NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be”

“I don’t normally respond to unsavoury rumours in the media, but now I must. I am NOT involved in any talks about an OceanGate movie and never will be. “
Cameron’s name got into the media in between in connection with the Titan incident, as he gave his assessment on the probable implosion of the submarine. However, the Titanic director makes it clear that he would never tackle a feature film about the real-life disaster.
