Arnold Schwarzenegger has never been a critical darling. Even absolute cult films like Predator failed many critics:in. The sci-fi catastrophe The 6th Day
didn’t make many friends with audiences either when it was released.

The action star’s performance was so badly received that he was nominated three times for the anti-Oscar Golden Raspberry. Today, the film is shown on TV.

On TV: Arnold Schwarzenegger fights himself in sci-fi spectacle

In the near future, animal cloning is permitted but human reproduction is still banned under penalty of law. Charter pilot Adam Gibson (Schwarzenegger) is all the more surprised when he comes face to face with himself in his own living room. The powerful entrepreneur Drucker (Tony Goldwyn) has copied him without his knowledge and now wants to have the original eliminated.

Sci-fi fans will recognise the story parallels to Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall, which, however, was streets ahead of its late copy 10 years earlier. Various critics slammed the film (via Metacritic ), and it flopped at the box office (via Box Office Mojo ).

But that’s not all: the organisers of the Golden Raspberry Awards cheekily nominated Schwarzenegger’s The 6th Day three times: for his original role, for his clone role and for worst screen couple. But even here the film came away empty-handed.
