A fantasy universe, which failed at its first implementation, now promises to make everything better in the second attempt. Where even template author Stephen King gets behind it.

The bigger and more popular a fantasy series is, the higher the expectations of the fans are. What 6 years ago the cinema adaptation of The Dark Tower got to feel, which turned out to be a big flop. The new attempt at a series adaptation of Stephen King’s saga by horror genius Mike Flanagan is now sending extremely positive signals.

The great fantasy hope lives: Stephen King’s The Dark Tower comes as a series

The long-contested fantasy project The Dark Tower flopped with audiences and critics in 2017 and didn’t even recoup its $60 million budget in the US. Although the film eventually reached a total worldwide box office of 113 million, that was nowhere near enough for a sequel. Thus, the intended fantasy series died with its very first film, and the series reboot approached after this tale of failure also threw in the towel.

However, we’ve known since last December that a new series adaptation of The Dark Tower is being prepared for Amazon Prime: and it’s being directed by none other than Netflix’s horror master Mike Flanagan (Haunted Hill House, Midnight Mass). Even Dark Tower creator Stephen King gave it his blessing.

Mike Flanagan finally promises successful fantasy adaptation of The Dark Tower

Director Mike Flanagan now fed expectant fantasy fans with a new sign of life and revealed that despite the Hollywood strike, things are looking good for the remake:

“Even though we’re frozen right now because of the strike, I have a good feeling. We had a wonderful spring and have made tremendous progress. When the strike is over, [The Dark Tower] will be a top priority. “

Although Flanagan can’t officially reveal much, his promising hints are already whetting the appetite for the reimagining of Stephen King’s fantasy world:

“We have great partners that I can’t talk about. We have exciting actors:ins on the horizon that I’m not allowed to talk about. We have some potentially groundbreaking approaches to filmmaking that I also have to keep quiet about. But what I can say is that my fears about the project just getting off the ground have been completely erased. […] Everything is going very well. “

The 8-volume book template for The Dark Tower * by Stephen King was published between 1982 and 2004. In the fantasy saga with sci-fi, horror and western elements, we follow the epic journey of Roland Deschain, a gunslinger, through his homeland of Midworld. His destination is the titular tower, the center of the multiverse. In the fight against his opponent, the man in black, he is assisted by companions like the boy Jake or the drug dealer Eddie from our world.
