After almost two years of waiting, the fantasy bestseller adaptation “The Wheel of Time” continues on Amazon Prime Video. After the season start with 3 episodes now comes a new episode per week – Episode 5’s so on September 15, 2023.
“The Wheel of Time” turns again. The second season of the fantasy epic around the “Dragon Reborn” Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), who must learn to control his powers so that he can oppose the Dark King, has started on September 1, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video. At the start there were directly three episodes – from now on, however, only one new episode per week, and always on Fridays. Episode 5 of “The Wheel of Time” will therefore appear on Amazon Prime Video on September 15, 2023.
The season started at 2 a.m. and not, as is often the case with Prime, at 9 a.m. our time. And the other episodes will also be available in Germany from the early hours of the morning. In total, the second season of “The Wheel of Time,” based on Robert Jordan’s eponymous fantasy epic, consists of eight episodes. This results in the following release schedule:
AND WHAT’S NEXT?
Watch out, spoilers! If you haven’t seen the first four episodes yet, don’t read on now.
Episode four ended with a big bang: it was revealed who Rand’s (Josha Stradowski) new girlfriend Selene (Natasha O’Keeffe) really is. She’s one of Ishamael’s (Fares Fares) lost ones – namely, the woman bathed in blood that he freed at the beginning of the episode. Her name is Lanfear, and although Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) actually killed her at the end, it becomes clear in the very last shot of the episode that this creature just can’t be taken out that easily:
Lanfear blinks, so we’ll still see some of the so-called “Daughter of the Night” in episode 5 and the rest of the season, who has now shown her true colors and become Rand and Moiraine’s antagonist. But we still don’t know the identities of all the Lost – Ishamael is likely to free more and more of them as the season progresses and set them on the Dragon Reborn….
And also another person has shown her true face: Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood), who attacked Nynaeve (Zoe Robbins) and her companions in the vault of the White Castle. She, too, is on the side of the Dark King, meaning she is one of the renegade Aes Sedai of the Black Ajah. This becomes clear not only from the attack, but also from the conversation between Ishamael and Min (Kae Alexander), in which he opens up to her that he is working with Liandrin. In episode 5, we should now learn more about Liandrin’s true plans.
