Not Christopher Nolan: This director is supposed to direct the next

by Dennis

Currently, not only a new James Bond is being sought, but above all the person who will direct the first adventure of the next 007. After the name Christopher Nolan fell again and again, now another director moves into the center.

The scooper Daniel Richtman, who already came up with some reliable information in the past, now reports that according to his sources Matthew Vaughn should be the top candidate of the responsible persons in the search for a new 007 director. Already in the past, the name of the Brit known for films like “The Star Wanderer” “Kick-Ass” as well as the “Kingsman” series circulated in this context.

Vaughn stated in the past that he had huge desire for the job, but didn’t think Bond executives would consider him. He probably fears that his often over-the-top brutal style might scare them off. However, his action thriller “Argylle,” which according to current plans will open in theaters on Feb. 1, 2024, is said to be very much influenced by 007.

In it, “The Witcher” star Henry Cavill plays a successful best-selling author of spy novels who eventually realizes that he was once an outstanding spy himself who has lost his memory. John Cena, Bryan Cranston, Ariana DeBose, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryce Dallas Howard and pop superstar Dua Lipa, among others, are still part of the high-profile cast.

THIS IS WHY THE NEXT BOND DIRECTOR IS SO IMPORTANT

The next 007 director has a particularly important position in that he will not only introduce a new leading man, but will probably also get to help shape the direction that the next James Bond era takes. While Bond executives have exercised a great deal of control themselves in the past, it has recently been said that they might even make a few more concessions to a strong director in the process.

So suddenly the name Christopher Nolan was also associated with “James Bond.” The “Oppenheimer” director is a huge 007 fan and could well imagine staging a Bond actioner. However, he really demands maximum control – from the script to the casting to the final cut and theatrical release, as he already clarified publicly.

Even though it was said that the Bond executives are willing to give the next director a bit more freedom, it is considered very unlikely that they will withdraw so completely themselves. So a Matthew Vaughn seems to be a more realistic option than Christopher Nolan.

It is not yet known when another Bond film will be released – especially since the Hollywood strikes are currently making possible preparations difficult anyway. In the past, however, rumors have circulated that a timetable will be in place by spring 2024 and that personnel issues will have been resolved. Still the personalie “Matthew Vaughn” is to be regarded absolutely as rumor – particularly since the Scooper Daniel Richtman describes it also only as alleged Top candidate of the Bond responsible persons around the powerful producer Barbara Broccoli.
