Netflix has secured the rights to the work of Roald Dahl and let cult director Wes Anderson loose on it. You’ll soon be able to see four films made from it. Here’s the trailer for “I See Something You Don’t”:

A cult director is filming the works of a cult author: Wes Anderson has adapted four short stories by Roald Dahl. From September 27 to September 30, 2023, a new film will be released daily on Netflix, which should warm the hearts of all fans of quirky and unusual works. What all four films have in common is that Wes Anderson has directed them in his very own style. This includes Roald Dahl himself as a character – played in each case by “Harry Potter” villain Ralph Fiennes, who also has other roles to play.

SEPTEMBER 27: “I SEE SOMETHING YOU DON’T “

The first film to be released on Wednesday, September 27th is “I See Something You Don’t See” (original title: “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar”), for which a trailer is now available and which we were able to see in advance – and which we are really excited about. The almost 40-minute-long whimsical story with numerous stars in several roles is for us even “one of the best films by Wes Anderson” ever, so that there are 4.5 stars in the official FILMSTARTS review by Janick Nolting.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays the rich Henry Sugar, who discovers in the stories of a doctor (Dev Patel) the story of a man (Ben Kingsley) who has learned the ability to see without eyes. Quickly, Henry Sugar wants to acquire this ability as well…

SEPTEMBER28: “THE SWAN “

On Thursday, September 28, we continue with “The Swan.” In the story, which is only 17 minutes short, a young boy (Asa Jennings) must defend himself against two much larger bullies. Also starring here is “Homeland” star Rupert Friend.

SEPTEMBER 29: “THE PIED PIPER “

With “The Pied Piper,” due out Friday, September 29, Anderson has also adapted another lesser-known Dahl story. Also 17 minutes short again, the film is about an exterminator. Ralph Fiennes embodies the title character. Rupert Friend is also back in the cast. The third lead role is played by “IT Crowd” fan favorite Richard Ayoade, who also starred in “I See Something You Don’t. “

SEPTEMBER 30: “GIFT “

For the closing film “Venom” on Saturday, September 30, Dev Patel, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Kingsley once again return together to tell the story of a man (Cumberbatch) who discovers a venomous snake in his bed … and subsequently behaves rather strangely. This film is also expected to last just 17 minutes again.

Below we have the original English trailer for the opening film “I see something you don’t”. Whether there will be trailers for the three shorter titles after that is not known.
