This is what Meg 2: The Deep is all about
Meg 2 takes place a few years after the first installment. Jason Statham once again plays deep-sea diver Jonas Taylor, who is now an environmental activist and takes care of his foster daughter Meiying (Shuya Sophia Cai) on the side. Her uncle Jiuming (martial arts star Wu Jing from Wolf Warrior) explores the deep sea and its inhabitants with the help of a captive Meg(alodon). This is a prehistoric shark species that dwells far below the surface of the sea in the movies.
During a dive, Jonas and Jiuming uncover an illegal operation in the Meg hunting area and are trapped by sabotage on the ocean floor. You don’t need to have seen Meg to understand this film.
