Now streaming for the first time: Horror prequel to one of the scariest

by Mike

Stephen King’s Graveyard of the Snuggles is one of his scariest horror stories. At Paramount+, the prequel to the 2019 remake opens today.

Stephen King’s chilling novel Graveyard of the Snuggles is one of his creepiest works and has inspired four horror films since its publication in 1983. Now, more than four years after the remake, Graveyard of the Cuddly Animals, the latest adaptation takes us back to the eerie horror graveyard.

Graveyard of the Cuddly Animals: Bloodlines is available to stream now from Paramount+ *. The horror prequel takes its cue from a gruesome story that was deliberately left out of the 2019 Stephen King adaptation.

This is what Cemetery of the Cuddly Animals Bloodlines is all about

Many decades before the grisly events of Graveyard of the Cuddly Animals, Jud Crandall (Jackson White as a young John Lithgow) wants to leave the small town of Ludlow in 1969 to join the Peace Corps. An ancient evil that has surrounded the small town for centuries wants to prevent that.

Jud’s childhood friend has turned into a creepy weirdo with a hunger for bloody fresh meat since returning from Vietnam. The reason: Timmy Baterman actually died in the war and was buried by his father in an ancient cemetery of the Mi’kmaq tribe, which resurrects the dead. The “zombie” now begins to tyrannize the living.

Fans of Stephen King’s original novel or even Mary Lambert’s 1989 film adaptation Cemetery of the Cuddly Animals should find the plot familiar. The basis for the new film is the story of resurrected war returnee Timmy Baterman, which was told as a flashback in both the book and the film. In the 2019 remake, this chapter was deliberately omitted.

And for all Cemetery of the Cuddly Animals fans who were afraid of the biting zombie cat Church in the original, there is a new animal surprise. This time, the prequel unleashes a resurrected zombie dog on the residents:inside of Ludlow.

Another reason to immediately put Graveyard of Cuddly Animals Bloodlines on your watch list is also the notable cast. In addition to the main actor Jackson White, known from the series Tell Me Lies, Natalie Alyn Lind (The Gifted), David Duchovny (The X-Files), Henry Thomas (Haunted Hill House) and Blaxploitation icon Pam Grier can be seen in other roles.
