Where do I know him from again? In movies we always have the feeling that we have seen people before. In “Five Nights At Freddy’s” there is also such a moment. We tell you where you know Steve Reglan (Matthew Lillard) from.

“Five Nights At Freddy’s” has been playing in German cinemas since October 26, 2023, and the forecasts speak for themselves: it’s likely that the video game adaptation of the jump-scare horror will be one of the biggest horror successes of the current cinema year. But after seeing it, many moviegoers* will surely have one question in mind: “Where do I know Steve Reglan’s actor from again?”

The strange job center employee is played by Matthew Lillard and at the beginning of the film arranges for Mike (Josh Hutcherson) to get a job as a night watchman at the defunct family restaurant Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Both horror aficionados and non-genre viewers* have surely seen movies with the actor. We’ll tell you where you know him from.

“SCREAM” AND “SCOOBY DOO “

Genre fans probably don’t have to think twice, because Matthew Lillard is one of the main characters in the prelude to an absolute cult horror series. In the 1996 meta-slasher “Scream,” Lillard stars alongside “Friends” star Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell. Together with Skeet Ulrich, who here plays teenager Billy Loomis, Lillard dons the Ghostface mask as Stuart “Stu” Macher to form the first killer duo in the franchise’s history – and its legacy has been evoked a few times since.

But even “Five Nights At Freddy’s” viewers who usually avoid spooky realms might know the actor, because he played an important role in an extremely popular youth mystery series. In “Scooby-Doo” and its sequel “Scooby-Doo 2 – The Monsters Are Out”, Matthew Lillard starred as the lovable hanger-on and Scooby master Shaggy – and was an absolute casting hit.

At the time, Matthew Lillard was not only a perfect fit for the role in terms of his appearance, but also successfully portrayed the character vocally. To this day, the mime is inseparable from the Mystery Inc. member and regularly lends his voice to the likeable scaredy-cat Shaggy in animated series, video games or home cinema productions.
