Here’s what a bunch of people have been looking for and found: Hollywood whiz Jason Statham has landed himself a new action role in a David Ayer film. But almost more exciting is who is writing the script for “Levon’s Trade”…
Well, if that’s not promising news for action fans, we don’t know what is: After Jason Statham and David Ayer already shot the beekeeper actioner (!) “The Beekeeper” together (theatrical release: January 11, 2024), they are now planning their next collaboration. But the two are not the only action-experienced personnel on “Levon’s Trade”…
The script for the action film is written by none other than Sylvester Stallone. The action icon takes up the (metaphorical) pen every now and then, most recently penning the scripts for “Creed II: Rocky’s Legacy” (2018) and “Rambo: Last Blood” (2019), among others. Stallone even received an Oscar nomination for his screenplay for “Rocky” in 1977.
“LEVON’S TRADE”: ACTIONER WITH FRANCHISE POTENTIAL
“Levon’s Trade” doesn’t get an original script, but is an adaptation of Chuck Dixon’s novel of the same name – the prelude to an entire book series. If successful, sequels could be in the offing. Jason Statham takes on the role of protagonist Levon Cade. He has given up his “profession,” as Deadline describes it, to work in construction.
He wants to live a simple life and be a good father to his daughter. Unsurprisingly, this doesn’t go well for long: when his boss’s teenage daughter disappears, Levon Cade must turn to the skills that once made him a legendary figure in the shadowy world of underground military operations. The search for the missing girl leads him directly into the heart of a sinister criminal conspiracy. A chain reaction is set off that threatens the lifestyle he has just begun…
ACTION IS DAVID AYER’S SPECIALTY
Not only Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone have plenty of action experience, director David Ayer has also directed quite a few films with lush action scenes and star power, most recently said “The Beekeeper”. Before that, he shot the action thriller “End Of Watch” with Jake Gyllenhaal, the World War II film “Heart Of Steel” with Brad Pitt, the crime actioner “Sabotage” with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the DC blockbuster “Suicide Squad” with Margot Robbie and Will Smith.
Filming on “Levon’s Trade” is scheduled to begin in London in March 2024.
