“The Killer” by David Fincher: So soon the thriller starts already

by Dennis

Since Thursday, “The Killer” by David Fincher is running on German screens. But you just can not make it to the cinema in the near future? No problem, because soon the film will be released in the Netflix subscription.

When it comes to particularly prestigious films, Netflix doesn’t miss the opportunity to bring them to the cinema. Behind this is not only that the streaming service wants to please cinema lovers. Through a theatrical release (lasting at least seven days), Netflix productions also have the opportunity to compete in the award season. Such a case now occurs again with “The Killer” by David Fincher, which has been in theaters since October 25.

The ice-cold thriller, based on the French comic series of the same name, is one of the big Netflix highlights of the year. You can find out why in our 4.5-star FILMSTARTS review. In it, our author Björn Becher draws attention not least to the film’s visual class – and it’s precisely this that can best be experienced in the cinema, of course. But if you can’t make it to see “The Killer” on the big screen, you won’t have to wait too long until the film is released in streaming:

Starting November 10, 2023, David Fincher’s “The Killer” will be available to watch on Netflix.

THIS IS WHAT “THE KILLER” IS ABOUT

A nameless professional killer (played by “X-Men” star Michael Fassender) travels the world killing people for his client with the utmost precision. His latest job takes him to the French capital, where routine is the order of the day: scouting and waiting are on the agenda. The killing is to take place when the intended victim finally shows up. When the time comes, the killer screws up his job.

Because he misses his victim, he sets in motion a brutal chain of events that follows the killer to his actually very well hidden domicile in the Dominican Republic. For him, there is soon only one way out: he must break one of his rules and act out of personal motives. Soon he embarks on a hunt for those who are after him…
