There’s a blockbuster on TV tonight that takes you out into the cold. A group of Hollywood stars are stuck on a train and must solve a murder.

With Murder on the Orient Express, Agatha Christie created one of the greatest classics in the history of crime fiction. It is also by far the most famous case of the Belgian private detective Hercule Poirot, and has been adapted for the cinema several times. The latest version has launched a whole series and is on TV today.

Kenneth Branagh is the creative mastermind behind the new Poirot films. He directed the new 2017 Murder on the Orient Express. What’s more, he leads the film as the main character – sporting arguably the most powerful mustache seen on the big screen in recent years.

Murder on the Orient Express gathers Hollywood’s A-list to solve a legendary murder case

The remake of Murder on the Orient Express comes in the guise of epic imagery and boasts a remarkable cast. In addition to Branagh, acting greats such as Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Olivia Colman and Michelle Pfeiffer are on board and try to solve a tricky murder case in a confined space.

The victim, a shady art dealer named Edward Ratchett, is portrayed by Johnny Depp. Rounding out the ensemble are Tom Bateman, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr. and Derek Jacobi, not to mention Daisy Ridley, who plays her first major role here after her breakthrough with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

As the story progresses, we learn more about the characters and their backgrounds. Almost every:r passenger:in has a motive. But who really has the body on his conscience? The resolution of Murder on the Orient Express surprises every time. Because in the end, nothing is as simple and clear as it seems at the beginning.
