With the first season of The Last of Us, HBO gave us one of the best series experiences of recent years. The adaptation of the video game of the same name starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey can now look forward to a second season. After the first images of the new episodes were released a few days ago, we can now look forward to more exciting news from the zombie apocalypse.
There is a new addition to the cast of season 2, which should make die-hard fans of The Last of Us video games jump for joy
Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role from The Last of Us games in season 2
So Jeffrey Wright will be seen alongside Ramsey and Pascal in the new episodes. The actor is known from films such as The Batman, the Tributes of Panem series or the James Bond films with Daniel Craig and gained top-class series experience on Marvel’s What If…? and Westworld. Just this year, Wright was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role in the tragicomedy American Fiction.
The Last of Us fans also know the actor from the second video game, in which Wright not only lent his voice to the role of Isaac, but also embodied it using motion capture. For the HBO series, he will now slip into the role of Isaac again – and this time he will also be seen as him in his entirety. According to Variety, the official role description reads:
A quiet but powerful leader of a large military group who sought freedom but instead find themselves bogged down in a war against a surprisingly recalcitrant foe.
In addition to Jeffrey Wright, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother Tommy, Rutina Wesley as his wife Maria, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen and Danny Ramirez as Manny are currently in front of the camera for season 2. Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice) is also in the new episodes in an as yet unknown role.
