Warner Bros. is putting another Matrix film on cyber legs. But without the Wachowski sisters. Here you can find out all the information known so far
The Matrix is dead, long live the Matrix! This or something similar must have been a conversation in the Warner Bros. boardroom when, after the sci-fi trilogy and the deconstruction of said trilogy, another part was sent into development with Matrix Resurrections.
Here you can find out all the relevant information about Matrix 5 until its release:

When is Matrix 5 coming to theaters
The Matrix sequel is only just in development and does not yet have an official release date. The film is not expected to be released before 2026
Who’s in the movie and who’s behind it?
It is doubtful whether Keanu Reeves will return as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity. Filmmaker Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) wants to take a completely different approach, according to Deadline on the announcement from Warner:
Drew [Goddard] came to Warner with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the Matrix world by honoring what Lana and Lilly [Wachwoski] started over 25 years ago, while offering a unique perspective based on his own love for the series and characters.
Which brings us to the biggest change for the Cyberpunk franchise: Lana and Lilly Wachowski, the Matrix creators, are no longer in charge and will not be in the director’s chair. Lana will only act as executive producer. The sisters worked together over 20 years ago on
Matrix (1999)
Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Keanu Reeves stated in an interview with Empire in 2021 that he would come back on one condition: If Lana Wachowski asks him. But since she only has one EP credit left, his involvement is probably a thing of the past
What is the plot of Matrix 5?
Nothing is yet known about Goddard’s “fresh approach”. Of course, the story of another neo-anomaly in a different guise could always be told. And a continuation of the central theme of free choice vs. control is also conceivable.
Away from the three-part Neo basic story, Lana Wachowski deconstructed her franchise 20 years later with Matrix Resurrections. Further approaches beyond the main story were provided by the short films in the 2003 anime compilation Animatrix.
