With Doomsday and Secret Wars, the 5th and 6th Avengers films from Marvel are on their way. Only one of the strongest superheroes of all time is rarely seen in them.

It’s been six years since the big Marvel showdown in Avengers 4: Endgame. Since then, there has been a slight superhero fatigue that the Disney-led Hero House wants to overcome with a new set of Avengers movies.

For Avengers 5: Doomsday and Avengers 6: Secret Wars, the Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo are even back on board, whose first great stroke of genius was to cast ex-Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. as the main villain Dr. Doom. Unfortunately, one of the MCU’s most powerful heroines will be absent from the fight against him.

The Avengers will have to fight Dr. Doom without the Scarlet Witch

Actress Elizabeth Olsen has been part of the MCU since a cameo in Captain America 2 as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch. With her witchcraft powers, she even puts reality in her place, which makes her one of the most dangerous characters around when she’s not leading a fantasy family life like in her own series WandaVision.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, it has now been revealed that Olsen will be staying away from the Marvel adventures for the time being. When asked if she will be in the next two Avengers movies, she replied as follows:

No, I’m back [in the States]. I just finished Panic Carefully and I’m moving on to a pilot for FX called Seven Sisters.

Panic Carefully is a Sam Esmail thriller starring Julia Roberts. Seven Sisters, on the other hand, is a family drama in which her character begins to hear a voice that brings old secrets to light, according to Deadline.

How did the story end for Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in the MCU?

We last saw Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she briefly became a dangerous antagonist after the traumatic events in the series WandaVision. In the end, however, she makes a heroic sacrifice to rid the world of diabolical spellbooks.

It’s a good thing that deaths in the MCU are rarely permanent enough to thwart future appearances by actors. So a future reunion with the mighty Scarlet Witch is anything but out of the question.

According to the current MCU plan, Avengers 5 is scheduled for release on April 29, 2026, and Avengers 6 on May 7, 2027.
