Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt were yesterday. In a few days, the series version of Interview with a Vampire will start. The future of the horror story has just been secured.

Interview with a Vampire is one of the biggest cult films of the 1990s. In fact, the horror film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt goes back a bit further: it is based on the 1976 novel of the same name by Anne Rice. Now the scary vampire story is being remade as a series.

On October 2, 2022, the 1st season of Interview With the Vampire will premiere on AMC. The series is the new beacon of hope for the US channel, which will have to say goodbye to two big series this year, or has already had to say goodbye to one: Better Call Saul and The Walking Dead.

After the cult film with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt comes Interview with a Vampire as a series

There’s a lot of potential in Interview With the Vampire – so much, in fact, that AMC has renewed the series for a 2nd season ahead of its launch, Variety reports. Last but not least, the project has been very well received by critics. At Metracritic, Interview With the Vampire currently averages a score of 81 out of 100.

Here you can watch the trailer for Interview With the Vampire:

Matthew Gilbert of the Boston Globe has nothing but praise for the series. It does change individual details from the original, which might upset fans, but the result “works spectacularly well.” Carly Lane of Collider adds that Interview With the Vampire feels like a “gritty exploration of sex and violence” that is “heartbreaking and turns our stomachs.”

An intriguing comparison comes from Brian Tallerico at The Playlist : Interview With the Vampire could be the series child of True Blood and Hannibal. That definitely sounds tempting. After being in development for over five years, it seems that a really strong adaptation has now emerged.

The creative mind behind this adaptation is Rolin Jones. In the past he has worked on series such as Weeds – Small Deals Among Neighbours, Friday Night Lights and Boardwalk Empire. Now he is overseeing Interview With the Vampire as showrunner. The roles of Cruise and Pitt are embodied by Sam Reid (The Limehouse Golem) and Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm from Game of Thrones).
