Heartstopper is one of the most popular Netflix series of the year. Now, lead actor Kit Connor is coming out as bisexual – because fans have been pressuring him on social media.
The film adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper, started on Netflix in April. The mixture of coming-of-age story and romcom turned out to be a surprise success for the streaming service. Lead actor Kit Connor, however, tells of less pleasant experiences.
In Heartstopper, Connor plays bisexual rugby player Nick Nelson, who falls in love with fellow student Charlie Spring. While the show makes a point of approaching the characters and their sexual orientation with great empathy, Connor has been harassed by fans in the past.

On Twitter he now speaks out with a short tweet in which he comes out as bisexual – but by no means voluntarily. On the contrary: some fans have put a lot of pressure on the actor in the social networks. Among other things, there are accusations of queerbaiting, which drove Connor to his forced outing.

Many colleagues have already expressed their support for Connor. Among the most prominent voices is Oseman’s. “I really don’t understand how people can watch Heartstopper and then happily spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotypes,” the author of the draft wrote on Twitter.

When does Heartstopper continue on Netflix?
Netflix has already ordered seasons 2 and 3 of Heartstopper. When these will premiere has not yet been determined at the moment. However, we assume that the new episodes will arrive at Netflix in the first half of 2023?
