Ten years ago, one of the best sci-fi action films of all time was released. We’re talking about Dredd with Karl Urban, which is now finally set to get a sequel.
2012, when the 3D boom was at its peak, an extremely grim science fiction film came into the cinemas with breathtaking action scenes: Dredd. The reboot of the comic book character of the same name, previously embodied on screen by Sylvester Stallone, is considered a great insider tip among genre fans.
Unfortunately, Dredd failed to impress at the box office at the time and went down in the history books as a flop. However, the hope for a sequel has not died to this day. Lead actor Karl Urban in particular has repeatedly spoken out in favour of part 2 in the past. Now it really is supposed to come.
Sci-fi action sequel: Dredd 2 with Karl Urban in the works
As Giant Freakin Robothas learned, Dredd 2 is indeed in the works. After a decade of uncertainty, the long-awaited sequel is finally taking shape. Who will direct the new Dredd film is unclear. According to Giant Freakin Robot, the return of Urban in the lead role is set for it.

It’s the first Dredd sign of life in a long time. In 2017, the franchise last made news when the development of the Judge Dredd: Mega City One series was announced. Since then, however, the project has been very quiet. For many fans, however, Dredd 2 might be the much more exciting news anyway.
