After 3 Angels for Charlie, Elizabeth Banks’ new film announces itself with a wild trailer: Cocaine Bear delivers exactly what the title promises. The black-humoured comedy tells the story of a black bear who ingests a whole pack of cocaine in the woods of Georgia and subsequently causes a bloodbath.
Wait a minute, who would think up something like that? No, Cocaine Bear is not a fictional story. In fact, the film is based on true events that took place in December 1985 and still cause incredulous reactions today. The first trailer gets us in the mood for the absurd fight for survival.
In the Cocaine Bear trailer, a black bear goes crazy
The story of Cocaine Bear begins with a drug deal that goes violently awry: the plane that was supposed to carry the truth crashes over Georgia. As soon as the titular bear finds the white powder, he has the adventure of his life, while the people around him are in mortal danger.
The film is led by The Americans star Keri Russell. She is joined by two familiar faces from the Star Wars universe. Alden Ehrenreich starred as a young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, while O’Shea Jackson Jr. recently dropped in on the new adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
But Cocaine Bear should be particularly touching for another reason. In between all the wild bear action, the film features one of Ray Liotta’s final appearances. The actor known from GoodFellas – Three Decades in the Mafia died this year in May
