But the potential of a new series could make his past misfortunes forgotten. With Warhammer 40,000, the actor is to spearhead the Amazon adaptation of an impossibly bloody and gritty fantasy universe to which he is by no means a stranger. But what is it all about?

Warhammer 40,000 (also Warhammer 40K or W40K) is originally a tabletop game by Games Workshop, in which participants go to war with their own armies, dice and simple calculations. The attraction of the game is the crafting of the settings and painting of the figures, but also the unique setting itself.
As the name suggests, Warhammer 40K is set in the 41st millennium. There, the giant empire of humanity wages an everlasting, futile and omnipresent war against cruel alien races such as orcs and sinister supernatural enemies who worship the demons of a chaotic dimension. One of the most popular parties in the eternal massacre of countless planets, for example, are the elite human warriors of the Space Marines.

The mood of the gigantic fantasy universe is basically gloomy and pessimistic. Inventor Rick Priestley was inspired by the Lord of the Rings and Dune books, Terminator, the first two Alien films and the literature of H.P. Lovecraft, among others. The Warhammer 40K world has been filled with thousands of stories through countless novels, several movies and a video game series since its release in 1987.
What role does Henry Cavill play in Amazon’s Warhammer 40K series?
Exactly how Amazon plans to package this massive universe into a series is not yet clear. The story or Cavill’s role are not yet known, nor are the rest of the cast and crew behind the camera. It is nevertheless the perfect job for The Witcher star.
Because Cavill’s love for Warhammer 40K has been known for a long time. He discovered the game when he was ten years old and has apparently spent a lot of time playing, painting and crafting in the Games Workshop world ever since.
