Henry Cavill wasn’t fired: new DC boss reveals what really happened to

by Mike

Henry Cavill’s Superman is not part of the new DC universe. In a statement, DC boss James Gunn gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse and deals out against his predecessors

Yesterday, the first films and series of the new DC Universe were revealed. A day earlier, director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran faced the press and answered questions about the current status quo at DC Studios. In the course of this, Gunn also spoke about the Henry Cavill case.

Last year, the actor announced his big DC comeback and appeared in the post-credit scene of Black Adam. A few weeks later, it was revealed that the studio’s new management had no plans for his Superman. Instead, Cavill was pushed around by the old regime at Warner and DC.

Failed Superman comeback: James Gunn explains why Henry Cavill is missing from the new DC universe

At Monday’s press conference, Gunn shared his perspective and didn’t mince words, as The Hollywood Reporter notes.

“We didn’t fire Henry [Cavill]. Henry was never cast [for any of the new films]. For me, it’s about who I want to cast as Superman and who the filmmakers we’re working with want to cast. And for the [new Superman] story, in my eyes, that wasn’t Henry.”

Now comes the exciting part.

“I like Henry. He’s a great guy. But he’s been pushed around by a lot of people, including the former regime of this company. But our new Superman is not Henry for a number of reasons. “

For Gunn to come down so hard on the previous chief executive as the new DC boss is anything but a given. Hollywood is first and foremost about relationships. However, Gunn has proven in recent weeks that he has no problem speaking up loud and clear about the things that have gone wrong at DC.
