Star of one of Netflix’s most successful series ever missing from season

Netflix is losing another main character in the 3rd season of its own hit series Bridgerton. Still, the streaming service may soon have an expensive reunion with the star.

Bridgerton became a huge Netflix success two years ago, securing the future of the titular series family in romantic Regency England for several seasons, including a spin-off. The main characters (who traditionally change in the series) for season 3 have long been fixed, much to the delight of the fans. At the same time, however, we will have to do without another big star in the coming season, after the series already lost its first leading actor in season 2.

Bridgerton season 3 without Daphne actress Phoebe Dynevor

To The Hollywood Reporter Phoebe Dynevor revealed that her Daphne will not be making an appearance in season 3 of Bridgerton:

“Unfortunately [she] is not in Season 3. Possibly in proper seasons again. But I’m looking forward to watching Season 3 just as a viewer. “

Because Bridgerton tells the love story of a new sibling in each season (according to Julia Quinn’s book *) and Daphne was already allowed to live out her love story in season 1, the main character had already been seen only in a supporting role in season 2 – which was probably partly due to the problem of her absent husband Simon. The fact that the exiting Regé-Jean Page as the Duke of Hastings is now also followed by Phoebe Dynevor means that the happy ending of the two will take place completely off-screen for the time being, i.e. away from the rest of the series narrative.

Despite this, Bridgerton fans who would like to see more of Phoebe Dynevor won’t have to give up her Netflix presence entirely, as according to IndieWire the streaming service has secured the actress in a 20-million deal.

Bridgerton star returns to Netflix in erotic thriller

After Phoebe Dynevor’s new film Fair Play just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, Netflix promptly swooped in and secured the distribution rights to the erotic thriller for the handsome sum of $20 million.

In Fair Play, the relationship of a newly engaged couple is put to a dangerous test: For the prospect of a coveted promotion in the ruthless financial world in which they work, feelings increasingly take a back seat to ambition and success.

Besides Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, the second lead in Chloe Domont’s Fair Play is played by Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story). The thriller was produced by Rian Johnson, among others, who is also no stranger to Netflix audiences with his Knives Out sequel Glass Onion.
