Ex-Batman star Ben Affleck could soon be returning to the DC universe. This time, however, with completely different duties: According to a rumour, he will direct the new Batman film.
After James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the first projects of the new DC Universe, the question is which talents will be secured for them. While the return of Henry Cavill as Superman has been officially ruled out, another DCEU face could soon return: Ben Affleck.
Affleck has been seen as Batman several times in recent years. His first appearance was in the crossover film Batman v Superman, with his latest coming this year in the multiverse adventure The Flash. Gunn has already hinted at wanting to work with him in the future, though not as an actor.
The Brave and the Bold: Ben Affleck to direct new film about Batman and Robin in the DC Universe
According to a new rumour coming from Above the Line, Affleck’s new DC commitment is to direct The Brave and the Bold, which introduces us to a new Batman and Robin. It’s not the first time Affleck has been linked to such a project.

Even if Affleck doesn’t return in front of the camera as Batman, this could be a dream come true for the actor and director. He had already tried to implement his own film about the Dark Knight in the old DCEU. However, that always fell apart and eventually made way for The Batman.
Now it looks like Affleck is getting a second chance. With The Brave and the Bold, he could add another facet to his DC legacy. He has already proven his talents as a director with films like Gone Baby Gone and The Town, not to mention the Oscar winner Argo.
