If you liked Breaking Bad and are looking for a series replacement, you can’t go past a brilliant action-thriller-comedy: But the trailer for season 4 of Barry reveals that this brilliant series is also coming to an end.
Five years ago, a hitman decided to become an actor and pursued that pipe dream in sometimes bloody and sometimes heartbreaking fashion. Now Barry is ending after season 4 and promises to pull out all the stops again in the trailer for the series ending. Not only Breaking Bad fans should have this on their radar.
After Breaking Bad came Barry: The extraordinary thriller series ends after season 4
Barry is a unique series that manages the borderline between suspense, emotion and humour with playful ease and always reminds us of Breaking Bad with this gripping tone. Shocking twists are not uncommon here and the laughter at the comedy portion of the narrative always gets stuck in your throat. In the best sense.
In the trailer for season 4 Barry gets down to business again
After 3 seasons of Barry, the ambivalent hero of the series (Bill Hader) has already been through a lot: While his girlfriend Sally (Sarah Goldberg) tries to break away from him completely in order to succeed in the film business, Barry’s acting teacher Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) delivered him to the knife. Accordingly, the trailer for season 4 shows us the professional killer in prison and predicts an arresting finale. The fact that Barry promises at the end of the video to seek out his mentor, whom he actually adores, with feelings of revenge sounds more than ominous.
What Barry always had in common with Breaking Bad, beyond its engaging characterisation, was also its delight in camera experiments that added an unusual touch to the story. The series finale is sure to revisit this approach as well, ending with a Walter White-worthy bang.
You can currently stream the first 3 seasons of Barry on WOW *. The 4th season of Barry will start on 16 April 2023 in the USA and hopefully shortly thereafter in Germany. The series finale of the 8 new half-hour episodes will fall on 28 May 2023.
