Today, the first Fantastic Beasts movie is on TV, raising questions among fans. Will there be another part 4? Or is it more likely that part 8 of the main series will come? The franchise is at a crossroads.
The Harry Potter film series is cult, the Fantastic Beasts series a disappointment. At least if many fans and producer Warner have their way. After all, each film in the spin-off series made less money than its predecessor, all of them below the average box-office takings of the main series. Today, the first part of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is on TV. Will there be a fourth part?
Harry Potter disappointment: Fantastic Beasts 4 is unlikely
Officially, the Fantastic Beasts series has not ended, but a continuation with part 4 is very unlikely due to the sobering financial figures. After a meeting at the end of 2023, Warner revealed two plans for the Harry Potter future. Neither involves further Animal Beings adventures.
Rather, Warner will in all likelihood either reboot the main Harry Potter series or film the theatrical sequel Harry Potter and the Enchanted Child, written by J.K. Rowling, as an 8th installment. Option 1 means quicker money, option 2 is likely to blow the minds of fewer fans of the original films. Fantastic Beasts 4, however, is probably not worth waiting for. And this despite the fact that two more films with Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) were originally planned.
When is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on TV?
The first Fantastic Beasts instalment is on Sat.1 this Sunday, 2 April 2023, at 8.15 p.m. Those who don’t have time then can catch up on the film at 1.25. In addition to Redmayne, Colin Farrell and Ezra Miller (The Flash), among others, can be seen in front of the camera.
Note: Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has been criticised for years for not only being dismissive of trans people, but also for supporting trans-hostile policies. You can read more about this here .
