A new sci-fi universe is currently being created at Netflix. With Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder wants to create his own Star Wars. Now the new plans for the major project have been leaked.
For the past decade, Zack Snyder was one of the driving forces behind the DC Universe. But that era is over. The SnyderVerse has received its conclusion with Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Now the director and screenwriter has found a new home under the Netflix umbrella.
With Army of the Dead, Snyder delivered his first Netflix film two years ago. Now comes an even more ambitious project: Rebel Moon. The science fiction epic emerged from a failed Star Wars pitch and will premiere in December. But that’s just the beginning.

It has been known for some time that Snyder is working on two Rebel Moon movies for Netflix. As The Direct reports, the plans are much bigger: the two-part Rebel Moon has now become an entire Rebel Moon trilogy. Netflix has confirmed the change of plans to the New York Times.
In addition, another announcement regarding the major project recently caused a stir: Apparently, we will get to see the individual Rebel Moon films in two different versions on Netflix. In addition to the normal versions, which may also be released briefly in cinemas, there is talk of extended R-rated versions.
When does Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon start on Netflix?
The fact that Netflix has great faith in Rebel Moon is already evident in the start date. On 22 December 2023, the prelude to Snyder’s Star Wars will appear on the streaming service. In previous years, that launch was reserved for Netflix blockbusters like Don’t Look Up and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
