Season 3 of Star Wars series The Mandalorian ends with an action-packed episode that features an exciting development for Grogu aka Baby Yoda.
Warning, spoilers follow!
The Mandalorian delivers a spectacular finale to close out Season 3, with some fast-paced action scenes. Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and the other Mandos battle their way through the secret facility that villain Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) has built on Mandalore.
Although Gideon destroys the dark sword, Bo-Katan becomes the new leader of Mandalore and is able to unite the separate clans. At the end of the episode, Din wants to train little Grogu as a student in the Mando arts, but since he cannot speak for himself, he needs the consent of a parent.
The Mandalorian: Din officially adopts Grogu as a father
Since no one knows who or where Grogu’s parents are, let alone if they’re even still alive, Din makes a decision that has been slowly announced since the series began: He adopts Grogu as his son. Armsmaster (Emily Swallow) then gives this a new name: Din Grogu.
Here you can watch the trailer for The Mandalorian season 3:
This makes it official: Din and Grogu are father and son. In the final minutes of the 3rd, Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) hands Din the keys to a remote house on Nevarro. Like a classic western, Din puts his feet up on the porch while Grogu power lifts a frog.
Star Wars: New baby Yoda name causes confusion
A big question remains for many fans: if Baby Yoda is now named Din Grogu, does that mean we’ve been calling Din by his last name all along?

wait hold on so if grogu is now called “din grogu” was din’s first name actually djarin this whole time pic.twitter.com/mm9q4wZFuZ– ems ✮ (@atotalposer) April 19, 2023
Should we actually say Djarin? Is that his real first name? The series itself doesn’t provide any explanation for how the names are handled. With Bo-Katan Kryze, at least we have certainty that Bo-Katan is definitely the first name.
