On Sunday, ProSieben will air the first Doctor Strange instalment. The Marvel blockbuster first introduced the multiverse, which greatly shaped the MCU thereafter.
Doctor Strange shows how brilliant surgeon Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) becomes the titular Marvel superhero. But almost more important is the cornerstone of the multiverse that director Scott Derrickson lays in his blockbuster. On Sunday at 8:15 pm, ProSieben will air the film about one of the most important MCU developments to date.
The multiverse from Doctor Strange has taken the MCU to a new level
In the Marvel movie, the superhero is told by the Elder that there are parallel dimensions that all exist at the same time. Strange then gets a direct taste of the concept of the multiverse like a picture-perfect trip when he is hurled straight into it in a wacky scene.
In the Ant-Man universe, a dimension of the multiverse was introduced with the quantum plane, which made it possible to undo Thanos’ devastating flip in Avengers 4: Endgame.
Alongside this, the multiverse in the MCU also serves to open doors for characters from other comic book movie universes. The best example of this is the Marvel hit Spider-Man: No Way Home. Thanks to the multiverse, Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker could be united in a blockbuster here.
This is why Doctor Strange is one of the most important MCU films ever, due to the first comprehensive introduction and explanation of the multiverse.
