Tonight one of the most bizarre sci-fi movies ever is on TV. If you’ve ever wanted to see the heads of Hollywood stars on dogs’ bodies, you need to tune in.
There are all kinds of alien invasions in sci-fi movie history. On TV today, Mars Attacks! is by far the most bizarre. The film features psychopathic aliens with giant brains, James Bond star Pierce Brosnan as an absent-minded scientist, and Sex and the City heroine Sarah Jessica Parker with the body of a Chihuahua.
In Mars Attacks! aliens screw their victims’ heads off
Small green stature, big eyes and even bigger brains: that’s what the aliens who unexpectedly land on Earth in Mars Attacks! look like. US President Dale (Jack Nicholson) and scientist Kessler (Brosnan) want to welcome them peacefully. This backfires when the invaders start massacring people en masse. But that’s not all. They like to screw off their prisoners’ heads and transplant them onto a dog’s body for experimentation.
Master director Tim Burton’s (Sleepy Hollow) whimsical parody of 1950s sci-fi films was met with little enthusiasm among critics at the time of its release, according to Metacritic. Nevertheless, thanks to its uniquely bizarre ideas and sheer entertainment factor, the film has since achieved cult status.
