All 13 episodes are available on Netflix.
Horror anime on Amazon Prime: Tarantino vampires fight for world domination
Vampires, ghouls and other horror creatures dwell among us in the world of Hellsing. Standing between them and the end of the world is the fabled Hellsing Order of Knights, which hunts monsters on behalf of the British Crown and was once founded by vampire hunter Abraham van Helsing. The darkest secret of the order is the powerful vampire Alucard (dt. narrator: Torsten Lennie Münchow), who has turned against his own kind.
In the course of the 13 Hellsing episodes, the Order and Alucard have to fight on several fronts at once. In addition to bloodthirsty vampires, werewolves and a secret organisation of the Vatican are also among their opponents.
Hellsing lives from its unique characters. Similar to Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn, the horror characters are overdrawn to the hilt and come at their enemies with silver bullets and swords. A superbly composed soundtrack of classical music and alternative rock gives the anime series an extremely casual atmosphere.
Hellsing is based on the hit manga of the same name by Kouta Hirano. After the first anime adaptation, the original was remade with the Hellsing Ultimate OVA series, which sticks closer to the original storyline.
