and three months after the theatrical release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the acclaimed Marvel sequel is coming to Disney+. Here’s all the info on the film’s streaming launch.
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn said goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in May. In the past few years, he has directed three major theatrical films there (Guardians 1-3) and a streaming special (The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special). Now he’s moving completely over to rival DC.
While Gunn is working on Superman: Legacy, the streaming launch of his latest Marvel work is looming. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives on Disney+ on 2 August 2023. This means the film will be released on streaming subscription 92 days after its theatrical release and can be devoured by all MCU fans in their home cinemas.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 comes to Disney+ and reveals Rocket’s backstory
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the finale of the Marvel trilogy that began in 2014 with Guardians of the Galaxy and continued in 2017 with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The story revolves around Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), who teams up with a group of misfits to form the titular team.

After the Guardians’ last stop with the Avengers and even stopping by Thor 4: Love and Thunder, the focus is now back on the team. Besides Star-Lord, this team consists of Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Kraglin (Sean Gunn) and an alternative Gamora (Zoe Saldaña).
In their latest adventure, the Guardians get to deal with the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), who wants to create a perfect world and conducts cruel experiments to achieve this goal. This is particularly exciting in terms of Rocket’s fate, as he shares a dark backstory with the big baddie of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
