On Netflix, Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) is the titular preacher of the fantasy series. As a chain-smoking alcohol lover, however, he does not present the usual image of a Bible-thumping man of God. With his old girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and his new vampire friend Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), he embarks on a wacky quest to find God.

For Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead network AMC, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen created the fantasy series Preacher with Sam Catlin in 2014 based on the comic book template of the same name *. Preacher comic author Garth Ennis also wrote The Boys comics, which series creators Goldberg and Rogen turned into a hit series on Amazon after Preacher. So The Boys and Preacher have the same creators.
