Sci-fi film about a girl struggling to survive in a wasteland.
Earth is on the brink of ruin. While the ecosystem has collapsed, the oligarchs have taken shelter from the brutal conditions of the outside world in their man-made citadels. However, there are other survivors in the wasteland where nothing grows.
Among them is young Vesper (Raffiella Chapman), who discovers seeds while exploring and hopes to hold the key to her future. As she tries her hardest to get the seeds to bear sprouts, she spots a spaceship crash-landing near her on the horizon from the nearby citadel. On board she finds the injured Camellia (Rosy McEwen), whom she initially gives shelter. She helps Camellia look for her father and learns late that the blonde woman is guarding a dangerous secret that could change not only Vesper’s life, but that of the entire world.

With this European co-production between Lithuania, Belgium and France, the director duo Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper (both “Aurora”) realise a sci-fi film with a fairytale touch. Although it looks like it at first glance, the team did without visual effects as much as possible and recreated the dystopian landscape themselves.
The leading role is played by young actress Raffiela Chapman (“The Island of Special Children”), while stars like Eddie Marsan (“Happy-Go-Lucky”), Rosy McEwen (“The Encirclement”), Richard Brake (“3 from Hell”), Mélanie Gaydos (“Insidious: The Last Key”) and Edmund Dehn (“Spoon”) can be seen in other roles. Buozyte and Samper wrote the script together with Brian Clark. Vesper Chronicles” will be released in cinemas here on 6 October 2022.
