Leonardo DiCaprio apparently overdid it on the set of Killers of the Flower Moon. The reactions of Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese tell a lot about the dynamic between the Hollywood heavyweights.
Since this weekend, Killers of the Flower Moon has been playing in German cinemas. Hollywood’s high nobility is condensed in this lavish true-crime drama. Master director Martin Scorsese directed two of the highest-profile stars: The 80-year-old worked with both Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio several times, and he maintains an intense artistic relationship with both.
However, the two older film hares Scorsese and De Niro (also 80) allied themselves against the young wild man DiCaprio (48) and his youthful cockiness during the Flower Moon shoot.
Robert De Niro didn’t get along with Leonardo DiCaprio’s acting methods
The trio of De Niro, Scorsese and DiCaprio worked together for the first time in Killers of the Flower Moon. De Niro plays William King Hale, a ruthless rancher who infiltrates his nephew Ernest (DiCaprio) into the indigenous Osage people. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal the director compared the two acting heavyweights and their different styles.

DiCaprio had discussed “endlessly, endlessly, endlessly” on set, improvising dialogue on the fly. As a result, Robert De Niro fell silent, he “didn’t want to talk anymore,” the director describes the mega-star’s annoyed reaction.
“Every now and then Bob [Robert De Niro] and I would look at each other and roll our eyes a little bit. And we’d tell [Leonardo DiCaprio], ‘You don’t need this dialogue.'”
This sounds like an interesting, if somewhat unexpected, dynamic on set. Still, of course, the Hollywood legends appreciate each other: it was Robert DeNiro, after all, who recommended Scorsese work with Leonardo DiCaprio.

The story of Killers of the Flower Moon takes you to the America of 1920.The plot is triggered by the murder of members of the Osage tribe in Oklahoma, who sit on a valuable land with a lot of oil deposits.
