Bad news for spider fans: will have to wait for “Spider-Man 4”.

by Mike

The new Spider-Man series enjoyed great popularity. “No Way Home” was even among the highest-grossing films of all time. It may be a while before a new installment hits theaters, as the first clapperboard probably won’t drop until late 2024.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” started in 2017 in German cinemas, the following parts, “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019) and last 2021 “Spider-Man: No Way Home” followed in two-year intervals. Actually, it would have been time for another part of the popular Spider-Man adventures with the likeable wall-crawler Tom Holland as early as 2023, but as we know, nothing will come of it. Apparently, the fans have to prepare for a longer wait, because now there is an update on the start of filming for the start of “Spider-Man 4”, which is not very pleasant for the impatient.

First the good news: Another part will come, we already know that for several months – and also the return of Tom Holland as the friendly spider from the neighborhood is already confirmed. But fans of the web-slinger will have to be patient, because as the usually well-informed insider Daniel Richtman has now revealed on his Patreon, it seems that the first clapperboard for the sequel will not fall until the end of 2024 (!).

“SPIDER-MAN 4” NOT IN THEATERS UNTIL 2026

This means, conversely, that the earliest we can expect to see Tom Holland once again battling sinister villains in theaters is late 2025 – in fact, a theatrical release in 2026 is even more likely. And that would then mean a five-year gap between the box office success and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” – a long dry spell.

The reasons for the long wait for a sequel lie not only in the ongoing actors’ strike, which continues to paralyze the mills in Hollywood, but also with Tom Holland. According to his own statement, he had reached the end of his rope after finishing work on the Apple TV miniseries “The Crowded Room”. In an interview with Variety, he explained, “I’m taking a year off now. This is the result of how difficult it was to make this series.”

After all, it is firmly expected that in addition to Tom Holland, co-star Zendaya will be back in front of the camera. Jon Watts could, as with the predecessors. again be responsible for directing.
