Still quickly streaming on Amazon Prime Video: One of the best

by Tommy

“The Revenant” brought Leonardo DiCaprio his long overdue Oscar. But that’s not the only reason why you should definitely have seen the survival drama. In the Prime Video subscription, however, this is only possible for a short time…

Just one year after causing a sensation with “Birdman,” Mexican director (who won Oscars for both films) Alejandro G. Iñárritu presented his next exceptional work with “The Revenant”, based on true events. His virtuosically illustrated and immensely atmospheric mix of revenge thriller and survival adventure gets to the kidneys again and again.

From the shocking outbreaks of violence at the beginning of the film to the main character’s relentless fight for survival to the blood-soaked finale, Iñárritu, the Oscar-winning Leonardo DiCaprio and, above all, cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki (who also won an Oscar) let us experience the raw action up close. “The Revenant” is a blast to watch, and therefore quite rightly ranks not only 15 on our list of best adventure films of all time.

We can still highly recommend this masterpiece, no matter if you watch it for the first time or for the second time. There are currently still a few convenient options for this, but we will soon have to say goodbye to one:

“The Revenant” can only be accessed on Amazon Prime Video up to and including November 4, 2023. So if you’re in the mood for the movie again or even want to catch up on it, but only have a Prime subscription, you’ll have to hold off. Fortunately, there are still several alternatives for everyone else…

“THE REVENANT” AT NETFLIX & DISNEY+

Of course there is still the possibility to stream “The Revenant” via Amazon after November 4, but then also for Prime customers only against payment (there you could alternatively reach directly for DVD or Blu-ray to even put the film on the shelf).

However, those who also have a subscription to Netflix or Disney+ need to despair even less. “The Revenant” is currently still available on both streaming services and will not leave them, at least for the foreseeable future.

THIS IS WHAT “THE REVENANT” IS ABOUT

In the 1820s, trapper Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) and several other men roam the icy Canadian wilderness in search of animal pelts. One day, however, Glass is surprised by a bear and badly mauled. His companions (including Tom Hardy and Will Poulter) do not believe that their badly injured comrade will get through and therefore leave him to his fate.

But Glass survives and fights his way back to strength and through the inhospitable wilderness with only one goal in mind: to exact revenge on those who left him for dead…
