With Chainsaw Man, one of the most bizarre series of the year is now available in the stream. In the horror anime, a boy with a chainsaw head massacres lots of demons.
An impoverished boy with a chainsaw for a head. The mafia on a demon hunt. And a world full of devils feeding on humans. Chainsaw Man is one of the most bizarre series to watch in 2022. The anime adaptation to the hit horror manga is finally available on streaming service Crunchyroll.
Bloody horror anime Chainsaw Man: Chainsaw massacres have rarely been so touching
The story of Chainsaw Man revolves around young Denji (voice in the original: Kikunosuke Toya), who has to work off his father’s debt to the mafia. To do this, he hunts nightmarish devils that can heal themselves through human blood. However, he also befriends the dog-like devil Pochita (Shiori Izawa), who carries a chainsaw in his head.
Watch the trailer for Chainsaw Man with German subtitles here:
When they are betrayed and massacred by the mafia, the bodies of the hunter duo merge into one. Denji suddenly has chainsaws for heads and hands and henceforth goes to war for the government against the devils.
What is unique about Chainsaw Man is the unusual mixture of moods. Already in episode 1, a bloodthirsty chainsaw massacre is both genre fun and a touching expression of pain. Denji is an action hero, a horror creature, a pubescent boy and a kid looking for his place in the world.
Anime fans will be pleased to know that MAPPA is responsible for the realisation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga. The successful studio is known for its Jujutsu Kaisen series, for example. By all accounts, it will not disappoint its fans with the new work in terms of bizarrely bloody action and wild mood mixtures.
